In my life I have had all sorts of desserts, so picking the best chocolate dessert should be easy. Well I am here to tell you that it is not. There are so many great ones out there that picking the best chocolate dessert is almost impossible. In order to do this a couple of limitations on what is considered a chocolate dessert will have to be made. The world’s best chocolate fudge, while delicious no doubt, probably should not be considered as the best chocolate dessert.

Limitations on What Can be Considered as the Best Chocolate Dessert

I would say the first things to eliminate are any desserts that do not feature the chocolate as the main ingredient. This should cut down significantly on the number of desserts to consider. Chocolate is frequently used to accentuate the other things in the dessert. Chocolate sauce with cheesecakes, ice cream, and other things does not really feature the chocolate so those are out for the best chocolate fudge. In order to be considered a dessert does not have to be wholly made from chocolate, but it should be the focus of the dish.

This does lead to some interesting decisions as we try to pare down contenders for the best chocolate dessert. Should chocolate ice cream be considered? Is chocolate the main focus, or is it the ice cream? This was a tough one for me because if chocolate ice cream is included I think it would be a strong contender for the title. Unfortunately in the end I decided that chocolate ice cream does not focus strongly enough on chocolate and is more about the ice cream. Sad to say, but it is out.

So now that we have swept away those that are not worthy it is time to make a decision. For me the dessert that best represents chocolate in all its heavenly forms is Chocolate Death Cake. Chocolate, on top of chocolate, layered with chocolate and covered in chocolate icing. This is pure chocolate decadence at its finest. You can search high and low but you will not find a better representation of what chocolate is than chocolate death cake.

For this reason it takes the crown as best chocolate dessert. In it you can have chocolate up to five or sometimes even more different ways. The first is the cake. Chocolate cake has been around for a long time and it is a solid representation of chocolate in dessert form. Next are the icing, then the chocolate layers, then chocolate chips, and finally chocolate whip cream. Heck mix in some chocolate syrup and then you truly have chocolate death.
